About This Work
A pale dome crowns the Tuscan skyline, cypress trees flanking it on both sides as the afternoon light shifts toward rose.
There's a slowness to this light, a quiet that settles over everything. The land unfolds, rising from the foreground and carrying us toward that soft dome in the distance. The cypress trees stand like quiet anchors. The earth is all burnt sienna and warm olive, and the buildings seem to breathe with old terracotta and white against the soft blue above. Up close, you can feel the dry texture on the stone—a little thickness of paint where the sun hits an edge. But the distant hills just dissolve. That late sun grazes the buildings, leaving long shadows behind the trees. The air sits over the hills, slow and unhurried, as the afternoon lets go.
