From My Rooftop: Gazi, Just Before Nightfall
MK1825
About This Work
Gazi at last light, western sun still grazing the parapets as indigo deepens in the streets below.
The view opens from above, looking out across Gazi as terracotta tiles and whitewashed walls step back toward distant hills. Soft ambers and ochres hold the upper sky, then settle into indigo where shadow gathers between buildings. Light arrives low from the west, grazing upper surfaces and leaving the streets below in gentle penumbra. Brushwork stays controlled but loose—dry strokes suggest tile and stucco, while smoother gradients carry the sky. Depth builds quietly through value rather than contrast, and the quiet of the hour rests over the rooftops, patient, waiting for the city to turn on its lights.
