Madrid Street from Lake with Statue
MK837
About This Work
A civic monument anchors the lake's edge, Madrid's warm rooflines held intact in the still water below.
A deep quietness settles over the whole scene. Look at the monument, how its weathered stone catches that soft, even light. Beyond it, Madrid’s rooflines step back in warm earth tones against cool slate, framed by the dusty green of the trees. The paint itself seems to breathe. It’s laid down smooth across the water, but becomes drier, more broken, in the foliage and stonework. And the light is so gentle, almost overcast, letting the city’s reflection just melt into the water—a pale echo of itself. Time slows here, and the afternoon settles over the water without a sound.
