Paris, Rain in the Park (Bois de Boulogne)
M1479
About This Work
Rain falls across the Bois de Boulogne, the sodden path drawing the eye between dark trunks toward a flat, grey sky.
The curving walkway leads from the foreground inward, flanked by tall trunks that frame the path as it recedes into a low, rain-laden sky. Damp greens and slate blues hold the canopy and distance, while ochre and soft umber warm the soaked earth and bark. Brushwork stays loose, with quick dabs shaping the foliage and broader passes laying down the reflective ground. Light arrives evenly from the overcast sky, wrapping each form without casting hard shadow, and faint silver glints sit on the puddles. The park feels emptied of voices. Only the hush of leaves and water. A gentle damp settles over everything, and time slows to the pace of falling rain.
