Rhodes, Rocks and Sea
MK924
About This Work
Turquoise water meets sun-baked stone. The sea breathes rather than breaks.
Rocky outcrops frame an open expanse of water that carries the eye toward a soft horizon. Cerulean and deeper turquoise fill the middle ground, broken by pale flecks where light catches the wavelets, while the rocks hold earth tones and cool greys built with drier, heavier strokes. The water itself is blended more smoothly, glazed in places so the surface seems to shift beneath the light. Sun falls from a high side angle, defining shadow on the stone and lifting brightness from the foam. The sky settles into pale lavender and washed yellow at the edge of afternoon. Time slows here against the rocks.
