Serifos, Houses, Beige Background, Mountains

About This Work
Whitewashed cubes cluster against a slope of ochre and sienna, edges sharp in the midday glare. Heat sits over everything.
The houses gather across the middle ground, their geometric volumes drawing your eye upward toward the rounded mountains beyond. A warm beige fills the entire scene—both sky and unifying field—slightly cooler toward the top, dustier below. Earthy umbers and siennas describe the slopes, while off-white walls hold their shape without harsh contrast. Light enters from the upper left, articulating each cube with gentle shadow. The brushwork shifts between smooth planes for the architecture and a dry, stippled touch across the rocky ground, lending the whole composition a powdery, heat-hazed quality. Time seems to slow here, and the air itself feels still.
