Zagora, Houses, Trees

About This Work
Terracotta rooftops break through the canopy on the hillside at Zagora, pale walls holding the low afternoon sun.
A warm, late afternoon light seems to hold the whole village. Look how the earth tones and chalky whites of the houses root them in the hillside, with terracotta roofs rising into the soft greens of the trees. The paint itself feels alive. The walls are smooth, calm planes, but the leaves are made from thick, broken touches of color that catch the light. Shadows pool gently under the eaves. There are no people here—just the houses and the trees, keeping each other company. A slow, sunlit quiet settles over the village and stays.
