Alonissos Harbor
MK447
About This Work
Fishing boats line the dock at Alonissos, their cobalt hulls reflected in water that carries the warm ochre of the hillside rooftops.
There’s a gentleness to this light, a quiet warmth that seems to settle over everything. The fishing boats rest in the foreground, their blues and whites so clear against the water. Look at their masts, just soft lines against the sea's long reach. Your eye follows the dock past the little buildings climbing the slope, all the way out to where the hills fade into haze. The colors are so simple and true—the deep blues of the Aegean meeting the sun-baked ochre of the stone. Even the brushwork feels different, loose and fluid on the water but so calm and steady on the buildings. A deep stillness settles over the harbor, slow and unhurried.
