About This Work
Terracotta rooftops press low against Meteora's limestone pillars, the village modest in scale beside the ancient rock.
The eye enters at the foreground houses—low, earth-toned, their ochre walls and terracotta tiles sitting against soft whites. Rooftops slope upward toward the great rock pillars that anchor the distance, their cool greys and muted lavender holding beneath a pale cerulean sky. Brushwork shifts as it moves through the scene: smooth blending in the distant cliffs gives way to thicker, more textured strokes across the village, with quick economical lines marking window frames and tile edges. Light falls gently from above, modelling volume without harsh shadow, so the stone reads as ancient and the houses as lived-in. Time settles slowly here, cradled between roof and rock.
