Kythnos, Dovecote
MK1046
About This Work
A pale stone dovecote on Kythnos turns its small dark openings toward the full force of noon.
A deep quiet hangs over this hillside. The low stone walls seem to lead you right to the dovecote, and from there your eye can wander back into the soft hills that fade in the distance. The colors feel so warm and dry, pulled from the earth—ochres and terracotta against sun-bleached stone. Look, there's just a touch of lavender way out where the land meets the sky. The paint itself feels heavy with sunlight, laid on thick where the light strikes the walls and melting into the cool pockets of shadow. Those dark openings are so deep against the glare. Nothing stirs. The air feels still, holding the quiet of an afternoon that has long since slowed.
