Rhodes, Alley with Children and Palm Tree
MKP959
About This Work
A palm tree stands at the center of the alley, its trunk dividing the lane while children gather in the narrow shade at its base.
There’s a settled quiet to this street, a warmth that seems to belong only to this one hour. The children play near a sunlit patch of stone, their forms half in shadow, guiding us down the long lane toward that bright opening at the end. The walls hold all that sun-bleached white and terracotta earth, with just a touch of cobalt blue on a shutter. Even the palm’s green is soft against it all. The paint feels so light—letting the old stone breathe. The sun is high overhead. It cuts a clean shadow along one wall. Time slows here, and the alley holds its quiet warmth like something remembered.
