About This Work
Steel rails converge toward low sheds and signal posts set against a broad, pale sky.
Industrial forms hold the middle distance, and the eye travels along converging lines that pull deeper into the scene—toward angular sheds and pylons against a pale sky. Muted earth tones and slate greys carry the weight, with quieter brick red and bone white catching where light falls. The brushwork knows two speeds: controlled marks defining rails and signal posts, looser strokes across the ground and distant haze that soften the architecture into atmosphere. Light reads as diffused, late afternoon perhaps—shadows shallow and unified rather than sharp. A few small marks suggest figures, though the place feels largely deserted. A held quiet rests at the edge of everything, the kind that settles after the last train has gone.
