Florence, Twilight View
MK495
About This Work
Indigo settles over Florence as the Arno holds the last amber light, the dome and towers already edging into shadow.
A deep quiet seems to hold the city together. The Arno glides through it, a slow line moving past tiled rooftops toward the dome and towers that rise against the sky. The buildings themselves are all muted earth tones, while soft violets and rose tones pool above. The light feels so smooth and layered in the sky, but the paint on the stonework is thicker, holding the texture of the old stone. A low sun, just out of sight, catches the river and a few windows in small flecks of warmth. Twilight rests over the rooftops, and time slows to the pace of the failing light.
