About This Work
Steel hulls and crane arms at Skaramangas, hard-edged against a washed-out sky over the Saronic Gulf.
There’s a quiet that settles over this place, a feeling of industry paused mid-breath. The lines of the dock pull your eye past the dark hulls and cranes, all the way to that pale sky. Deep rust and navy ground the scene in earth and steel against the water’s cool teal. The brushwork itself changes—see how tight it is on the welded seams? But for the sky and the gulf, the paint just breathes. The light feels ordinary, soft. It catches a glint of metal but leaves the shadows gentle. Even the small figures feel like part of the machinery, anchored in their work. Time slows right at the water's edge.
