Kalymnos Sunset
M1205
About This Work
Kalymnos at the last light—houses set into the limestone, the sea already cool beneath a sky still burning.
This whole scene feels held in the last warmth of the day. The rocky cliffs pull the eye from the foreground, their deep earth tones moving along the shore toward the sun. See the houses, tucked right into the limestone? Little touches of thick paint on their walls catch the last of that light. The sea answers all that warmth with cool blues and teals, its surface so calm. The sky just opens. It's in the brushwork, too—the way the land feels solid, while the air and water breathe. A held quiet settles over the island, slow as the day turning into dusk.
