Hydra Harbor Evening, Blue Harmony
M2016
About This Work
Deep blue water meets a violet sky, and the harbour holds its breath. The quiet sits over everything as dusk settles in.
The eye enters along still water, drifting toward whitewashed houses with terracotta roofs that line the shore. Slender masts rise against the fading sky, leading inward toward distant hills dissolving into soft lavender. Cool blues answer to small ochre glows from windows and amber glimmers across the water—warmth held gently within the chill. Brushwork stays loose, fluid strokes for the sea, slightly firmer where stone walls catch the last light. There is no direct sun here, only ambient twilight that models forms gently, letting shadows blur into the surrounding blues rather than cut against them. The whites breathe with pale lavender, never pure. The air feels still, holding that long pause between day and night.
