About This Work

A single lit kiosk anchors Makrinitsa's hillside as dusk drains the last warmth from the terracotta roofs.

Everything seems to gather around that one small light. The stone houses and their terracotta roofs spill down the hillside toward it, the walls still holding the day's warmth in earthy ochres and siennas. And then there’s that glow from the kiosk—a warm island against the cooling sky. You can feel how the brushwork holds the architecture in firm, crisp lines, but then softens, breathing across the distant hills. The paint is layered just so, making that light feel real. Even the shadows are gentle; they just deepen the dusk. The whole village holds its breath as a deep quiet settles over Makrinitsa.
