About This Work

Coral light retreats from the rooftops of Skyros as violet draws across the sky above the gathered houses.

There's a quietness here that belongs only to dusk—that moment when the island seems to pause. The horizon sits just above center, giving the sky room to breathe while houses cluster in the midground, their forms anchoring the view. Ochre and sienna warm the lower ground, easing upward into muted blues and violet, with faint coral touches lingering on the rooftops. Brushwork shifts as the eye moves—precise strokes hold the architectural shapes, while looser passages soften the sky and distant water into haze. Foreground rocks show their roughness through dry-brush texture, contrasting gently with the smoother distance. Light spills low from the west, casting long shadows that deepen into indigo at the edges. Time slows at the threshold of evening, and the island holds its quiet.
