About This Work
Movement settles here. Cobalt water meets sun-bleached stone, and that quiet line between them holds the whole view.
There's a settled warmth to this place. Your eye follows the curve of the shoreline, moves across pale terracotta roofs gathered in the distance, and then lifts toward the fortified walls against a soft sky. The colors are so simple—warm ochres and chalky whites meeting the deep cool blue of the water, with just a touch of red where sun catches the old tiles. See how the paint changes? It breathes across the water, so smooth, but the stone has this thicker, broken texture that gives it weight. Light falls from a high angle, softening the shadows without dulling them. It's as if the buildings are left in a quiet dialogue with the bay. The air feels still, the kind of late afternoon that holds its breath before the color deepens.
