About This Work

A domed church holds the high point of Skopelos, its bell tower cutting clean against the blue while terracotta rooftops step down the slope below.

From above, the eye drops past terracotta rooftops and pine-dark slopes toward the church, then lifts again to the open Aegean beyond. Chalk white walls hold the center, set against azure sea and sky, with earth tones softening the descent. The brushwork stays controlled where architecture demands it, looser in the foliage and water, catching the glint of midday sun. Light falls hard and direct, throwing crisp shadows along the bell tower while the distant horizon dissolves into pale haze. A quiet settles over the hill—the kind that belongs to island noons when even the sea seems to pause.
