Tsepelovo, Zagori Villages, Entering the Village
M2020
About This Work
Tsepelovo climbs the slope stone by stone, its slate roofs and ochre walls quarried from the same mountain that holds them.
A deep quiet seems to hold this place. You can almost feel time resting in the stone. The path invites you in, curving past low walls toward the houses tucked into the hillside. The whole village is built from the mountain itself—warm umber and aged ochre in the walls, with soft greens of sage breathing through the gaps. The sky just opens above it all. Look at the paint up close, how thick it is on the rough stone, then see how it thins as it moves back to those hazy peaks. The light rakes low across every surface, leaving the lanes in gentle shadow. A quiet settles over the entrance, patient and held, the way a village breathes between footsteps.
