About This Work

A small chapel crowns the headland, pale walls caught in overhead sun, cobalt water held below.

A deep quiet holds this place. You feel it in the slow journey from the rocky shore, up through the pale earth toward that small chapel. The sky is a clear cerulean that opens into deeper cobalt water, and the buildings just rest in those warm tones—ochre and sun-bleached white. The paint itself seems to tell the story. See how it breathes in the smooth water, but becomes thick and broken on the stone, catching the light. The sun is right overhead, leaving such short, crisp shadows. The air holds its quiet over the headland, and time just settles into the white stone.
