Gazi from My Terrace
MK12
About This Work
Gazi's rooftops spread below in ochre and chalk, interrupted by one cobalt shutter somewhere deep in the grid.
There’s a quiet that settles over this whole view—it feels like late afternoon. We're high up, and the lines of the streets pull you down into that patchwork of low buildings. The warmth of terracotta and bleached white is everywhere, and then you catch a little surprise of cobalt, maybe a distant shutter. It’s the shadows that give everything its weight, settling in cool slate and umber. The paint itself… it breathes. See how it’s thinner in the sky, almost dissolving? But here, on the plaster and chimneys, it feels drier, thicker. The light is so even, softening every edge it touches. A slow heat sits over everything, holding the entire neighborhood in its quiet pause.
