Madrid, Crowded Street, Vivid Color

About This Work
A Madrid street at high noon, cobalt awnings cutting across a crowd moving beneath walls of deep terracotta.
There's such a living energy here. The way we’re looking down from a little above pulls us right into the scene, following the sun as it slices across the pavement in these long, sharp shadows. The whole view is drenched in the warm terracotta of the buildings and sun-bleached stone, all of it cut by those deep blues. I love how the paint changes. It’s so clear and defined on the people and signs right in front of us, then it just softens as you look deeper into the street. You can see where the paint is thickest, too, right where the light is brightest. The air feels like it carries the sound of the crowd, all settled into its own rhythm.
