About This Work
Pale stone houses descend the Pelion slope, their cobalt shutters marking the drop between ochre walls and chalky plaster.
Everything seems to breathe in the slow light. You can almost feel the warmth coming off that pale stone path, leading you up between the houses. The warm earth tones of the walls lean into the chalky whites, and then you see those little flashes of cobalt blue from the shutters. Look at the paint on the sunlit walls—it’s thick enough to catch the light. It gets finer, though, just tracing the edges of roof tiles and the thin line of a chimney. The hills behind just drift into haze. The light is so even, softening all the shadows. A quietness rests at the edge of the warm stone.
