Village House, Parnitha

About This Work
One house, low on the Parnitha slope — ochre walls and terracotta roof squarely met by midday light.
The whole scene is held in a kind of afternoon stillness. The house rests low, its weathered stone and plaster anchoring the earth. Everything seems to lift from there—the simple rooflines guide you up, into the rolling slopes and the pale sky opening above. Look at the warmth of the terracotta tiles and muted whites, and how it’s cooled by those lavender shadows under the eaves. The light feels high and direct, leaving short, honest shadows at the base of the stones. The paint itself feels close on the walls, thick and dry, then just softens into air where the hills meet the horizon. The silence holds, settling over the slope like the long pause of an afternoon that has forgotten the hour.
