Winter in Kastania
MK407
About This Work
Snow settles on terracotta roofs and pale stone. The whole village holds a deep winter quiet.
The eye enters along a snow-dusted path, drifts across whitewashed houses tucked into the slope, then climbs toward a mountain silhouette rising in the upper third. Soft greys, icy blues, and pale lavenders shape the shadows and distant peaks, while restrained ochre and burnt sienna warm the roof tiles and wooden shutters. Thicker paint builds the snow and rough stone underfoot; broader, looser strokes soften the mountains into distance. The light is diffused, overcast, wrapping each form without harsh shadow—a faint glint touches an icy patch here and there. Time slows at the edge of the village, and the cold air carries the hush of a place that has known many winters.
