Santorini Houses in Thyrasia
MK194
About This Work
Cubic houses descend Thyrasia's cliff in close formation, a single blue dome steady among them.
A deep calm rests on this place. Your eye follows the rooftops as they climb, up toward where the Aegean opens. The deep blue of the shutters is so sharp against the warm ochre tiles, and shadows pool between the buildings in cool grays and soft lavender. The paint is smooth on the faces of the buildings, but each edge stays clean and sharp—while the sky just melts into the sea. The light feels like it comes from straight overhead, making the white walls almost glow. No one moves through the lanes. The silence settles into the stone, slow and sun-warmed, holding the village at the edge of an unbroken afternoon.
