Zagora, The Square from a Window of a Collapsing House
M2112
About This Work
Through the ruin of a collapsed Zagora interior, the village square holds its order in full sun beyond.
There’s such a quiet tension here. Our view moves from this crumbling plaster and broken wood, right out through the opening into the clean geometry of the plaza. The whole scene is built from sun and earth—ochres and weathered whites, with cooler blues settled into the shadows. See the soft terracotta on the distant roofs? The paint itself feels thick and rough on the ruined timber, but it breathes out in the square, looser where the light pools across the stone. Sun comes in high from the left, cutting sharp shadows through the wreckage while spreading so evenly over the village. A quiet melancholy rests at the edge of the frame, time slowing between what falls and what endures.
