Zagora Houses, Mountains in Background
MK215
About This Work
Zagora's pale, flat-roofed cubes cluster low while the slate-gray mountains consume the upper canvas.
There's a deep quiet to this place. See how the simple, cubic houses settle along the bottom of the canvas? Their warm ochres and chalky whites feel so grounded. They draw your eye gently back, over the soft foothills, to where the mountains rise in cooler slate grays and muted blues. The light is so even and high, washing everything out just a little—softening all the shadows. The paint itself is thin, just suggesting the texture of stone and plaster. A held quiet settles over the valley, as if time has simply paused.
